About Us

Welcome to Rang Crafts! We're a small woodworking shop located in Baltimore County, Maryland. It's here where we create truly one-of-a-kind pieces that we love to share with others.

The idea for this shop started in the fall of 2013, truly out of sheer boredom, by Seth Rang. Seth had always been active and kept busy during his school years. Of course there was the school work itself, but he always had something lined up to do in the evenings. After a year of being in an office job with nothing to do in the evenings, Seth grew bored and wanted to get into a hobby that allowed him to be more active and use a different side of his creativity. The only issue was what to do...

Seth was one of those kids that would tear apart anything he could to try and figure out how it worked and how it was put together. He was curious as to what made things tick and what could be improved. Unnecessary pieces were ripped off, while other pieces were added. It might come as no surprise then that he went to school for engineering which led to a career designing electrical and control systems. The only problem is that you really can't be too hands-on with electricity, for obvious reasons. So in thinking what he could do, he remembered the times of boredom from when he was younger. His dad would be working on something mechanical in the garage, many times a vehicle or a piece of lawn equipment. Seth being too young to help would find ways to stay busy with his younger brother. Many times this involved digging around in the scrap wood pile and constructing some rudimentary creation. It was this memory that sparked Rang Crafts. Thankfully, nowadays Seth is much better at wielding a hammer and nails and is able to create some wonderful works of art that he can be proud of.

What makes Rang Crafts different is that we didn't start this business to make a fortune. This is simply a hobby where we are able to share our creations with those who can appreciate them as much as we do. We hope our pricing reflects that notion. We also try to reuse and recycle as much as we can when creating pieces, whether that's creating something new from something old or using the entire piece of wood to not produce scraps.

Now that you know more about us, we'd love for you to check out our products and view what we have available to see if something speaks to you or possibly get as a gift for a friend or family member. We can also handle custom orders if there's something you want but don't see here so please contact us so we can work together to make your piece a reality.
